Police Auction
The Owen Sound Police Service is holding their annual police auction at the Owen Sound Coliseum, Thursday May 08th, 2008. The auction commences at 6:30 pm, with items available for viewing starting at 6:00 pm.
There is a large quantity of bicycles available as well as other miscellaneous items. For a more complete list of items available for auction, click on the link to the left.

Second Arrest Made in Downtown Assault
A second suspect was arrested and charged this morning by the Owen Sound Police Service, in relation to a violent unprovoked assault on March 22nd, 2008.
Tyler Peters, 22 years, of Owen Sound has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. Peters was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing on April 02, 2008.

Ice Fishers Need to Be Cautious as Shipping Activities Resume
The Owen Sound Police Service would like to remind people out ice fishing and in small vessels to be cautious as shipping activities are scheduled to resume in Owen Sound’s inner harbour.
At least one docked ship is scheduled to leave the harbour tomorrow. In addition to the obvious danger of coming into a ship’s path, movement from any of the docked ships will create instability in the harbour ice. That instability will remain even after the ship has left.
The best safety advice is to remain off the ice at this time of year.

Break Enter and Theft at Westside Convenience Store
Shortly before 4:00 a.m. several unknown individuals broke into a Westside convenience store by smashing the front glass door. Once inside the culprits targeted cigarettes. An unknown quantity was stolen and the culprits fled out the front door. Anyone with information is requested to contact Cst. Holovaci at the Owen Sound Police Service at 376-1234 ext 157 or Crime Stoppers.

Drug Raid Nets Cocaine and Cash
A 22 year-old Owen Sound man face charges following a police raid at an eastside residence. Members of the Owen Sound Police Drug Unit and Criminal Investigation Branch executed a drug search warrant at the residence late this afternoon.
At the residence, Police seized approximately $1,700.00 worth of crack cocaine and a smaller quantity of Oxycontin, as well as cash and items associated with drug trafficking including a scale, cutting agent and debt list. A 22 year-old resident has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of Oxycontin, and possession of proceeds of crime.
The man remains in police custody pending a bail hearing in the morning.
