Liquor Licence Act Charges In two separate incidents in the downtown area police charged four persons with Liquor Licence Act offences.
At 1:45am, a 23 year old man was arrested at a downtown restaurant for being intoxicated in a public place. In another incident three men were charged with consuming and having open liquor in the 200 block of 8th Street East. All have been scheduled to appear in the Owen Sound Court in July.

Police Looking for Driver Who Failed to Remain Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a black mid-size Jeep, similar to a Cherokee, that left the scene of an accident.

Fire at Boat Launch At approximately 10:15 a.m. emergency services were dispatched to a report of a washing machine on fire at the north end of Owen Sound’s west-side boat launch. Upon arrival it was determined that the item on fire was in fact a Port-a-Potty. It is unknown if the fire was arson or an explosive result from an abundance of methane gas.

Youth Rides in Front of Car At 6:50pm City Police responded to the 400 block of 8th Street East after an 11 year old child riding a bicycle was struck by a car. Investigation revealed that the child had crossed the street in front of the vehicle without warning. The child was knocked off her bike resulting in minor injuries. Police will not be laying any charges. The child was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident which likely prevented more serious injuries.

City Police Seek Vehicle Owen Sound Police Services is looking for a vehicle responsible for striking a traffic signal pole on the north east corner of 2nd Avenue East and 10th Street East. It is believed to have occurred sometime during the late evening and early morning hours. An electrical box and components were damaged. The vehicle left the scene. There is no description of the suspect vehicle.

Cyclist Drives In Front Of Vehicle At 1:00pm this afternoon Owen Sound Police were called to an accident in the 1400 block of 2nd Avenue West. A vehicle leaving a convenience store parking lot struck an 11-year-old cyclist. The child had been riding on the sidewalk when he entered onto the roadway in front of the vehicle. He was knocked of his bicycle and injured slightly. No charges will be laid.

Vehicle Fire The Owen Sound Police Services and Owen Sound Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at an east side service station shortly after 1:30 this afternoon. The fire was essentially extinguished upon the arrival of emergency services personnel and is believed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.

Dayshift Blotter On May 27, 2005 at approximately 10:20 a.m. the Owen Sound Police Services were called to a west side government building in response to an upset man who had attended the facility and inflicted harm to himself. While attending the call it was learned that the male had left the building in an injured condition. Police located the male in his vehicle and he was escorted to the Grey Bruce Health Services. The male was treated at the hospital for a minor wound and released.
