NewsWanted Male arrestedNovember 13, 2009
Inspector Stephen MacKinnon stated, “An Officer observed a male walking downtown just before noon yesterday for whom that officer had taken out an arrest warrant. When the officer approached the male to make the arrest, the male took off running southbound in the 800 block of 1st Avenue East. The officer gave chase and with the assistance of a citizen, the wanted male was finally caught and arrested in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue East by City Hall.” The accused had been convicted of aggravated assault and breach of probation in Owen Sound Court back on the 2nd of February 2009. He was incarcerated for a period of time and was also placed on another probation order with certain conditions, one of which was to not associate with certain individuals. In the early morning hours of September 12th, Owen Sound Police responded to a disturbance call on the city’s east side. Officers arrived and the crowd dispersed but not before officers observed the accused with a person he was not to associate with. When the officers tried to make the arrest that morning the accused ran and was able to avoid the police. Officers later attended the accused’s residence in Owen Sound but were advised the male had fled as he knew he was wanted by the police. An arrest warrant was then obtained. The accused also failed to attend a meeting with his probation officer on the 24th of September so another arrest warrant was issued. Twenty-year-old Cody DOHERTY was remanded into custody facing four counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. << Previous Page |
