No parking on the city streets starting this evening!

Section 3.5.15 of City By-Law 2009-075 prohibits parking on any city roadway “between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. during the period December 1^st to March 31^st.” 

Vehicles found in contravention of the By-law are subject to a $40.00 parking ticket and the potential of having their vehicle towed at their own risk and expense.  The ticket is $30.00 if paid voluntarily within 14 days.  It does not have to be snowing or have snowed overnight for this section of the by-law to take effect.

For visitors to the city who may be storm-stayed due to heavy snowfalls or icy road conditions there are ten designated spaces in the municipal parking lot (#5) located on the west side of 3^rd Avenue East between 8^th Street and 9^th Street East.  The spaces are on the west end of the building situate at 828 – 3^rd Avenue East. 

Visitors may use those spaces during the stormy weather provided they inform the Owen Sound Police Service of the need to leave their motor vehicle overnight.  Police will ask for a description from the driver or owner of the vehicle as well as some contact information.
