NewsMan Arrested Twice Over WeekendJanuary 4, 2010 An Owen Sound male finds himself back in front of the Courts after being arrested for the second time over the long weekend. Just before midnight on the 31st of December, a taxi driver was standing by his parked vehicle in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue East when three males approached the rear of the taxi. Thinking they wanted a ride, the driver proceeded towards the rear of the taxi where one of the males proceeded to pick a fight. When the driver said he did not want to fight, 19-year-old Kyler Quewezance, shoved the driver up against the taxi. When he pushed him a second time, the driver lost his balance and fell to the ground. When Owen Sound Police Officers arrived, Quewezance, who had already fled the scene, walked back down the alleyway towards the officers and the driver who identified him as being the male who assaulted him. The driver was not injured in the incident. Quewezance, who had been drinking, was arrested without incident for the assault. He was later released from custody on a Promise to Appear and an Officer-in-Charge Undertaking with certain conditions. One of those conditions was that he abstains from the consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. Quewezance was to appear in Court on the 11th of February to answer to the charges of Assault and Breach of Probation. On the 3rd of January, just before 6:00 a.m., Owen Sound Police Officers responded to the area of 10th Street and 9th Avenue East after a report that a young male was trying to provoke staff and customers at the Tim Horton’s into a fight. Again Quewezance fled the area before officers arrived however he was located a short distance away in an intoxicated state. He was arrested for breaching the Undertaking he had signed two days earlier, and held in custody charged with Breach of an Undertaking as well as another count of Breach of Probation. Quewezance was remanded into custody to appear in Court on the 4th of January to answer all four charges from the weekend. |
