NewsLocal electronics store robbed last eveningJanuary 7, 2010 The Owen Sound Police Service responded to a report of a robbery at east side store last evening. Shortly before 8:30 p.m. last evening a lone male walked into an electronic store in the 1900 block of 16th Street East, Owen Sound. He was wearing a black winter coat, black pants, black gloves and a black balaclava. He had a hood up over the balaclava and carried a dark coloured back pack. The male, further described as being Caucasian, in his late teens or early twenties, 5’6” – 5’8” tall with a medium build, walked into the store and directly to a shelf that contained several PlayStation Go (PSP®go) systems. An employee of the store went to provide assistance to the male and observed him take one of the systems and place it into his back pack. The male then grabbed the employee by the shirt, said not to mess with him and motioned towards his pocket as if he had a weapon although one was not seen or produced. The employee was not injured. The male grabbed six more PSP®go systems before running out of the store. Employees last saw the male running west across the parking lot towards 18th Avenue East. Owen Sound Police Officers responded immediately to the scene and began their investigation as well as a search of the area. Officers were able to follow footprints in the snow that led them to a wooded area at the south end of 18th Avenue East as it intersects with 10th Street East, and there they discovered the back pack with the stolen property. Officers continued to follow the footprints as they led west towards 16th Avenue East where they eventually mixed in with all the other footprints in the area. Anyone with information on the identity of the male is asked to contact the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 |
