NewsSpecial Olympics Ontario Fundraising AwardFebruary 3, 2010 The Owen Sound Police Service was recently honoured at the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run Annual Conference in Orillia, Ontario. Zone 5 - Highest Grossing Service 2009 Owen Sound Police Services has received this award as the top grossing Service/Agency from Zone 5 for a number of years. This is not determined per capita – it is purely based on fundraising dollars, and relates to the fiscal year from July 2008 – June 2009. The total funds raised were $27,000. Zone 5 includes a large section of south-western Ontario, including Bruce, Perth, Dufferin, Simcoe, and Wellington Counties as well as Waterloo Region. The Owen Sound Police Service would like to congratulate the entire community and all of our police volunteers on a job well done. Without the continued support and commitment of our community, and the men and women in Law Enforcement and Corrections, the continued success and growth of the Special Olympics programs in Ontario would not be what they are today. In 2009 Owen Sound Police Service was recognized with the Torch Award for fundraising in excess of $1,000,000 over the past decade. Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) is part of a dynamic world wide charitable organization dedicated to promoting a more active and better quality of life for people who have an intellectual disability, through their involvement of sport. << Previous Page |
