NewsSenseless Act of VandalismMay 28, 2010 The Owen Sound Police Service are asking for the public’s help in identifying those people responsible for damaging property in Harrison Park. Owen Sound Police Service Operations Inspector Stephen MacKinnon stated, “Once again we find ourselves investigating another case of a completely senseless and thoughtless act of vandalism. Shortly after 2:00 a.m. last Sunday morning (23rd of May) officers responded to a call about a group of young people in Harrison Park who had been up by the pool area. A park employee could hear the sounds of boards breaking so he called us. Unfortunately the group had scattered before the officers arrived.” The breaking boards were later determined to be part of the Weaver’s Creek Boardwalk. The boardwalk had been built in 2005 as part of the Weaver’s Creek Project undertaken by volunteers from the Sydenham Sportsman Club and the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer. The cost of the damaged boards is not yet known. Police are asking anyone with information that could identify those responsible for this senseless act to call them at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). ![]()
