Woman Charged Following Stolen Cheques investigation

A 28 year old Owen Sound resident has been charged with theft under five thousand dollars, possession of property obtained by crime, and 2 counts of uttering a forged document following an investigation by city police.

The charged party was involved in a casual relationship with the male victim for approximately 4 years. On June 9th he provided her with a key to his residence to allow her entry to care for his pet while he was at work. It is alleged that while within his residence she removed several of his blank cheques. The culprit wrote 2 cheques to herself, forged his signature on both, and uttered both cheques between June 11th and 14th at a local bank, receiving several hundred dollars.

The investigation concluded on June 29th when police arrested and charged the woman. She is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice Owen Sound on July 29th to answer to the charges.
