On Friday 12FEB2021 shortly before 11:00 pm a 57 year old Owen Sound man, impaired by alcohol, drove his vehicle into a neighbour’s driveway thinking it was his own. The driver put the vehicle into neutral instead of park and then fell asleep behind the wheel. The vehicle rolled out of the driveway and came to stop in the middle of the road. A resident in the area observed this and called police. Owen Sound Police attended and located the driver sound asleep. Investigation revealed the driver was impaired. He was arrested and brought to the police station where he provided two samples of his breath with readings of almost 3 times the legal limit.
As a result, the driver’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days, his licence was suspended for 90 days and he must now attend court to answer to charges of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and Operate motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol.
