On Sunday night just after 8:00 p.m. two Owen Sound Police officers conducted foot patrol in an area near the downtown core on the west side of the city. During that time, a woman was observed to fail to stop for a stop sign while operating her mountain bike. Police stopped the cyclist and notified her of the offence. Further investigation revealed that the 40-year-old Waterloo woman had an outstanding Arrest Warrant. As a result, she was arrested and will make a court appearance on Monday February 1st.
Just after 10:00 p.m. police responded to a possible impaired driver that was slumped over the steering wheel of a Dodge Ram pickup truck on the east side of the city. A woman was located by police in that condition and was unresponsive, as the officer tried to wake her. Upon finally waking her and as a result of the investigation, she was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. The suspended driver was found to have a purse across her lap at that time, which concealed a BB hand gun. The woman was taken to the Owen Sound Police Service where an officer qualified as a Drug Recognition Expert conducted a series of tests. As a result, the 30-year-old Owen Sound woman was charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Driving While Under Suspension and will make her court appearance Monday February 1st.
Just before 5 a.m. Monday morning, nightshift uniformed officers were investigating an incident at a location on the upper east side of Owen Sound. During the course of that investigation police learned of a male who had an outstanding Arrest Warrant. As a result, the 36-year-old Owen Sound man was taken into custody and will make his court appearance later today. The male was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fail to Comply with Probation and two counts of Failing to Comply with his Release Order.
