On March 29^th, 2026, just after midnight, Owen Sound Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on the west side of the city.    

A keen officer observed a vehicle make a U-turn before reaching the checkpoint and initiated a traffic stop several kilometers outside of the city limits.

After speaking with the driver, Police observed the male as showing signs of impairment and empty alcohol containers were visible inside the vehicle.    

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and brought to the Owen Sound Police Station.  Two additional samples of the drivers breath were taken by a Qualified Breath Technician, which measured a concentration of alcohol three times the legal limit in his body. 

The 37 year old male from Owen Sound was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80mg of alcohol in his blood.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for 90 days. 

The accused is to appear in Court on May 5^th, 2026, to answer to the charges.
