The Owen Sound Police Service has laid an Attempted Murder charge following a serious assault at a west-side residence in Owen Sound.

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Owen Sound Police Service investigated a reported altercation at a residence on the west side of the city. During the altercation, a tenant assaulted his roommate with a knife.

The victim attended the Owen Sound Police Service and was observed to have sustained multiple injuries. Emergency medical assistance was requested, and the victim was transported to Brightshores Health System for treatment. The victim sustained multiple lacerations, one of which required surgery. The victim did not sustain life-altering or permanent injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel “Matthew” Devine, 42, of Owen Sound, was arrested without incident and charged with Attempted Murder.

Devine was subsequently transported to court for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.

The incident is believed to be isolated, and there are no ongoing public safety concerns related to this occurrence.
