On September 19, 2024 at approximately 8:05 a.m. an 11-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of 10^th Street West and 8^th Avenue West in Owen Sound. 

The involved vehicle, a 2018 BMW, was attempting to turn right into a plaza at the time of the incident.  Grey County Paramedics attended the scene and transported the child to Brightshores Hospital.  Fortunately, the child sustained only minor injuries.

Traffic flow on 10^th Street West was reduced to one lane for a short period of time while Owen Sound Police investigated the collision and Paramedics treated the victim.

The 32-year-old driver of the BMW, a male from Owen Sound, was charged with Careless Driving and Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act.
