Concerned Citizen’s Call Results in Arrest, Impaired Operation Charge
On March 5th, 2026, a concerned citizen called police after witnessing a female displaying concerning behaviour at a local business. The citizen noticed the female walking erratically and twitching uncontrollably and became concerned for public safety when she entered her vehicle and drove away. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and performed a traffic stop; the driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested as a result. Upon searching her, officers located a folded piece of paper containing a white powder believed to be cocaine.
The female driver performed tests conducted by a Drug Recognition Examination officer who formed the opinion that she was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. As a result, her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days and her license was suspended for 90 days. She was additionally charged with possession of a schedule I substance.
The Owen Sound Police Service wishes to thank the citizen for their call and reminds you that we are all responsible for keeping our roads safe.
