Dangerous Driver At Kelso Beach Arrested For Impaired Driving

On Tuesday May 14th, 2024, at 7:39 p.m., the Owen Sound Police Service responded to Kelso Beach for reports of an erratic driver in the parking lot.  It was reported that a pick-up truck was doing donuts and burnouts in the parking lot while several residents were in the park.

Police arrived shortly after being dispatched and located the involved motor vehicle.  The investigation determined that the 30-year-old male, who was identified as driving the motor vehicle by several witnesses, was found to be impaired by alcohol.  The driver was arrested by police at the scene and transported to the Owen Sound Police Service to provide samples of his breath to determine blood alcohol levels.

After providing samples of his breath into an approved Intoxilyzer instrument, the results showed that the blood alcohol levels of the driver were well over the legal limit.  The accused male from Owen Sound has been charged with Operation while Impaired, Operation with over 80mg of Alcohol, and Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code.  His motor vehicle was seized and impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence has automatically been suspended for 90 days.

The accused is to appear in court to answer to the charges on May 30th, 2024 in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service would like to thank the witnesses who reported the incident and assisted with this investigation.
