Dispatcher/Communicator Team Lead
The Owen Sound Police Service is hiring full time Team Leads for our Communications Centre. Under the direction of their manager, these positions will be responsible for leading a platoon of Dispatchers, training new Dispatchers and performing Dispatch functions in our state of the art Communications Centre. This position involves shift work, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

To be considered for this position, the applicant must;
· Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
· Have 4 years of experience working in a 24 hour emergency communications setting;
· Possess a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent;
· Possess strong supervisory and team building skills, including previous, demonstrated formal or informal experience supervising, coaching and/or mentoring others;
· Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and theories of emergency services and radio operations, emergency communications procedures and practices and basic crisis intervention skills is required.
· Strong interpersonal skills are required to work with all levels of the Service and external contacts.
· Ability to use logic and reasoning to assess a situation, draw conclusions, identify alternate approaches to problems and provide a best course of action for resolution is required.
· Be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide operational direction to Unit members in a positive, proactive and engaging manner.
· Provide training to new and existing unit members, ensuring they have the skills required.
· Establish performance expectations and fosters an environment where Platoon members are motivated to demonstrate professional conduct, strong ethics and other work behaviours that are compatible with the Service's Values.
· Works as a Dispatcher, covering one of the desks in the Communications Centre.
