Fatal Hit-and-Run – Driver Identified and Charged; Deceased Identified

Owen Sound, ON – Members of the Owen Sound Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have identified and charged the driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m. near the intersection of 5th Street East and 5th Avenue East.

Following consultation with legal counsel, Devon Desborough, 21 years old of Owen Sound, surrendered to police. He has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Fail to Stop at Accident Causing Death

  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death

Desborough has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Subsequently, members of the Owen Sound Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on the city’s west side, where key evidence related to the incident was located and seized.

After consultation with the family of the deceased, and with their consent, the Owen Sound Police Service can confirm the identity of the victim as Rohan O'Donoughue, 19 years of age, and a resident of Owen Sound.

Rohan’s family has respectfully requested privacy as they grieve their loss. They have asked that no media inquiries be directed to them at this time.

While this marks a significant step forward in the investigation, police continue to seek the public’s assistance. Residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any camera footage, including doorbell and dashcam recordings, from the hours surrounding the incident.
