The Owen Sound Police Service has laid a charge in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on February 17, 2026.

Following an investigation by the Owen Sound Police Service, a 66-year-old male from Owen Sound has been charged in relation to the collision with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act (Ontario).

The charge relates to a collision that occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 17, 2026, at the intersection of 10th Street East and 16th Avenue East, where a pickup truck struck a 48-year-old female from Owen Sound who was crossing the roadway within a crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to a London-area trauma centre where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in April 2026.
