Impaired Driver Charged After Ramming Cruiser
On Sunday, October 12th 2025, the Owen Sound Police Service received a call to check on the well-being of a woman in the city of Owen Sound. Officers located the woman in a motor vehicle and in speaking to her, determined that she was impaired. When asked to step out of the car, she instead started the engine, put it in reverse gear and rammed a cruiser twice, narrowly missing the two officers on scene. She then fled the scene and almost hit another cruiser in the process. She was located a short distance away after her vehicle stopped functioning due to physical damage. She was arrested and transported to the station where she provided two breath samples, both of which were well over the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration. She was charged with seven offences under the Criminal Code and three under the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was held for a bail hearing on Monday, October 13th.
