OSPS Receives Funding from Ontario Ministry of Solicitor General's Community Safety and Policing (CSP) Grant
The Owen Sound Police Service is pleased to announce that they have been successful in receiving grant funding through the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General’s Community Safety and Policing (CSP) Grant. Two allotments of funding have been awarded under the CSP grant stream for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The first allotment, under the Local Priorities Funding Stream, will allocate $229,519 to assist the OSPS in maintaining their Part Time Officer Enhancement Initiative which provides for part time police officers to assist with traffic enforcement and calls during peak volume periods. The second allotment of funding will provide for $417,679 under the Provincial Priorities Funding Stream in order to assist with funding OSPS’ Community Oriented Response and Enforcement (CORE) Unit which provides for a team of two officers to be assigned to proactive policing initiatives focusing on community safety priorities. Both of these grants are continuations of previous grant funded initiatives and will allow for these programs to continue for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Chief Craig Ambrose advises, “We are very grateful to the Ministry of the Solicitor General for recognizing and making possible the Owen Sound Police Service’s efforts to enhance our proactive response capabilities to better serve our community’s public safety needs.”
