Owen Sound Man Arrested Twice on Two Consecutive Nights

On June 28th 2026, the Owen Sound Police Service received a complaint of a motor vehicle having been stolen by a family member who had been drinking to the point of intoxication. Police located the vehicle within the city and when they attempted to perform a traffic stop the driver fled at a high rate of speed while disobeying traffic signals, posing a significant danger to himself and others on the street. Police did not pursue the vehicle out of concern for public safety.

The male was later seen on video stealing alcohol from a local store. He was located near his residence where he was arrested after a foot pursuit and held for bail.

On June 29th 2026, police received another theft call from the same store. Video showed the same male had committed the second theft. He was located a short distance away and arrested again, less than 24 hours after his first arrest.

As a result of these incidents, the male is facing 9 Criminal Code offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle; operation of a motor vehicle with 80mg or more of alcohol in 100mL of blood; dangerous driving; theft under $5000; and assaulting a police officer with intent to resist arrest. He is additionally charged with multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
