Part Time Communications/Social Media Consultant

The Owen Sound Police Service is now accepting applications for a contract position – Part Time Communications/Social Media Consultant. 

This employment opportunity will be based on 8 hours per week, running from September 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.  This contract position maybe extended beyond that.

The position of Communications/Social Media Consultant is designed to enhance relationships between police and the citizens of Owen Sound, focusing on raising cultural awareness and eliminating hate and hate motivated speech in our community. This position will support the work Owen Sound Police and local community partners have commenced in recent years, with a focus on proactive, upstream communication; promoting diversity, inclusion and safety on-line.

To be considered for this position, the ideal applicant will;

·         Have 2-5 years of experience in Corporate, Not-For-Profit, Government communications, marketing, social media (preferred);

·         Have a minimum 2-year post-secondary diploma in communications, marketing or suitable equivalent (preferred)

·         Possess very good computer skills and the ability to multitask

·         Be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted.

·         Have excellent interpersonal and strong decision-making skills.

·         Excellent written communication skills

·         Comfortable working with community partners, local government, educational institutions and police

·         Preference will be given to applicants with a proven track record using various social media platforms and experience executing public relations campaigns.

 

Job tasks include but are not limited to;

·         Developing content and posting on social media.

·         Updating and maintaining content on the Owen Sound Police website.

·         Provide support with Service and Community events as needed.

·         Work with community partners as needed.
