On December 18th, 2025, at approximately 12:20p.m., an Owen Sound Police Service cruiser was struck from behind by another vehicle, while stopped for a red light.

The collision occurred at the intersection of 9th Avenue East and 8th Street East in the City of Owen Sound and fortunately resulted in no injuries to the officer or the driver involved.

Following an investigation at the scene, the driver of the striking vehicle was charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Police remind motorists to remain attentive and maintain a safe following distance to prevent similar incidents.
