In the early morning hours of December 11th, 2025, a member of the Owen Sound Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the city’s downtown core for a Highway Traffic Act offence.
During the interaction, the officer detected signs of alcohol consumption and requested a roadside breath sample. The driver failed the screening test and was taken for further analysis, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration in excess of the legal limit.
The 28-year-old Owen Sound resident was charged with:
· Operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood
· Operation while impaired
· Having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle
· Red light – proceed before green
Once sober, the individual was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18th, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
The Owen Sound Police Service reminds the public to consume alcohol responsibly and encourages anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 9-1-1 immediately.
