In the early morning hours of December 11^th, 2025, a member of the Owen Sound Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the city’s downtown core for a Highway Traffic Act offence. 

During the interaction, the officer detected signs of alcohol consumption and requested a roadside breath sample. The driver failed the screening test and was taken for further analysis, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration in excess of the legal limit.

The 28-year-old Owen Sound resident was charged with:

·         Operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood

·         Operation while impaired

·         Having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle

·         Red light – proceed before green

Once sober, the individual was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18^th, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service reminds the public to consume alcohol responsibly and encourages anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 9-1-1 immediately.
