PROACTIVE PATROL RESULTS IN IMPAIRED DRIVING ARREST
In the early morning hours of April 3rd, 2026, an officer with the Owen Sound Police Service was on proactive patrol and conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue East.
During the interaction, the driver, a 26-year-old Owen Sound man was found to have consumed an unknown quantity of alcohol. The driver was required to provide a breath sample using a roadside alcohol screening device, which resulted in a “fail”.
The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
The driver was transported to the Owen Sound Police Service, where he refused to provide breath samples to a qualified breath technician. As a result, he was charged with refusal to comply with a breath demand under the Criminal Code of Canada.
In addition to the criminal charges, the driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
