On the 30th of June 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m. the Owen Sound Police responded to Harrison Park after a youth reported being accosted by an unknown male.

The male suspect grabbed the 13-year-old female victim from behind, but her quick thinking and courageous actions allowed her to break free. She immediately sought assistance from people nearby, who ensured her safety and called police. The male attempted to flee but members of the public, including the youth’s family, promptly intervened and maintained observations of the male until the police arrived and arrested him a short distance away.

As a result of this incident, a 31 year-old male of no fixed address was charged with Assault, Sexual Assault and breach of Probation. He was held for bail and was later remanded into custody where he remains.
