TWO ARRESTED MONDAY NIGHT IN OWEN SOUND AND ONE IN HAMILTON

On Monday February 8th just before 7:30 p.m., police attended a lower eastside residence with respect to a male wanted on a Warrant of Committal.  Police attended and took the 27-year-old Owen Sound man into custody without incident.  The man is scheduled to make a court appearance today in Owen Sound.

A 30-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested just after 9 p.m. after he fled from police on an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). Patrols officers observed the vehicle being operated in contrary to the city by-laws along 10th Street East and attempted a traffic stop to investigate. The suspect was also carrying a passenger on the machine. The suspect made a dangerous maneuver and sped north bound along the 1000 block of 1st Avenue East which is a designated south bound road.

On Thursday February 4th just before 2:30 p.m., police responded to an upper eastside eatery in response to a woman biting a staff member.  After the female refused to follow the staff member’s direction, she responded by throwing a bucket full of cigarette butts and ashes inside the restaurant.  The staff member attempted to detain the individual for the mischief that she caused and as a result the woman bit the man in the arm and fled from the area in a vehicle.  Police were able to locate the vehicle about 90 minutes later at a lower eastside motel where the 24yea

MAN ARRESTED AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN A FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION

On Wednesday February 3rd at about 11:00 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision at 9th Street East and 3rd Avenue East in the city of Owen Sound.  A 2009 Mazda 3 car struck a 67-year-old woman causing her to fall to the ground.  The woman was transported to Grey Bruce Health Services by paramedics, where she was treated for minor injuries and then released.  Witnesses were able to provide the investigating officer evidence which led to the identity of the driver.  The 47-year-old man was located at about 3:00 p.m.

OWEN SOUND POLICE CONDUCT R.I.D.E. PROGRAM ON CITY TRAILS

On 30 January 2021 in the afternoon hours, members of the Owen Sound Police Service conducted a daytime R.I.D.E. on the B Trail, located at the eastside edge of the city limits.  The R.I.D.E. program was focused on impairment and proper documentation required to operate snow machines in Ontario. 

A total of 70 vehicles were stopped.  Drivers were checked for sobriety and required documentation was requested and inspected. 

FOOT PATROL OFFICERS KEPT BUSY MONDAY MORNING IN OWEN SOUND

On Monday morning around 8 a.m. two Owen Sound Police officers conducted foot patrol in an area near the downtown core on the west side of the city.  During that time, officers observed a breach of the Stay at Home Order which is in place within the Province in relation to COVID -19.  Police also commenced a drug investigation which led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Wiarton male.  The man was charged with Obstruct Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance being Fentanyl and Individual – Fail to Comply with an Order made During a Declared Emergency.
