MAN FLEES R.I.D.E CHECK-DANGEROUS DRIVING

Shortly after midnight Owen Sound Police were conducting a R.I.D.E checkpoint in the 800 block of 10th Street West. At this time a vehicle entered the checkpoint from the west and the male driver conversed with the officer. When the officer directed the male to pull over for further investigation the male accelerated causing the vehicle to fishtail and then sped eastbound through a red light at 8th Avenue East. Police did not pursue the vehicle citing public safety concerns. The vehicle was last observed eastbound on 10th Street West.

Police are interested in speaking to the owner of the mid 2000s Jeep Liberty. The Jeep is distinctive because the body is black and passenger doors on the driver’s side are silver. The Jeep also has a significant dent in the left rear bumper.
