Court Services

The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General administers the justice system in Ontario, protecting the public by delivering a wide range of legal services.

In the City of Owen Sound, there are two court facilities:

• A Consolidated Courthouse is located at 611 9^th Avenue East and hears matters for the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice. Matters typically involve criminal offences, Family Law or Small Claims matters;
• A Provincial Offences Court is located at 595 9^th Avenue East and hears matters relating to offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor License Act, Trespass to Property Act, Municipal By-Law offences and more.

The Owen Sound Police Service is responsible for providing court security, the care and safe handling of persons in custody, and the safety of the public and safe within the court facilities as well as any out of town escorts. All persons entering the court buildings will be screened at the front door by OSPS Special Constables.
