The AMBER Alert Program is a voluntary co-operative program between law enforcement agencies and local broadcasters in response to the 1996 kidnapping of nine year old Amber Hagerman in Arlington, Texas. The community banded together to come up with innovative ways in which to make their community safer for their children and a unique partnership was created, saving children’s lives by issuing urgent alerts to the public when child abductions occur. The Owen Sound Police Service is an active partner in the AMBER Alert Program. Learn more: AMBER Alert –
