    On July 16, 2024 Owen Sound Police conducted an assault investigation after a female victim reported having been intentionally poked in the eye and punched repeatedly by associates of hers, one of which was wearing brass knuckles.  The assault took place inside of a moving vehicle in the area of 16th Street East and 9th Avenue East, Owen Sound.

    On July 18th, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a section of 10th Street East between 2nd Avenue East and 3rd Avenue East, was shut down for approximately half an hour while the Owen Sound Police Service investigated a collision that occurred involving a transport truck and a cyclist.   The collision is still under investigation by Police.

    Pride Banner Stolen From Local Church – Woman Arrested

    A 41 year-old Owen Sound woman of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5000 and failing to comply with her probation order after being caught stealing a Pride banner from a church in the 900 block of 4th Avenue East in the City of Owen Sound.

    Death Investigation Concluded

    Just after 1:30pm on Sunday June 30th, 2024, the Owen Sound Police Service received reports of a fire in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue East. Upon arrival, police found a citizen performing lifesaving measures on a 58-year-old man. The man was transported to the Brightshores Health System where he succumbed to his injuries. As a result of investigation from the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Owen Sound Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, the Office of the Coroner and the Owen Sound Fire Department, it has been determined that the cause of death was from the blunt trauma from the fall from height. At this time, this incident is considered non-suspicious and is not believed to be criminal in nature. Police would like to thank those who recognized the immediate dangers, quickly called 911 and rendered assistance.
